Soak in Some Nature While Staying Close to Home: A Guide to the Kent Outdoors
Many people move to the Pacific Northwest to make the most of the amazing outdoor opportunities nearby. At Dockside Apartments, you’re in the perfect place to reach all of them — some are even closer than you might expect! Read on to learn where you can soak in some nature while staying close to home. Outdoors enthusiasts are going to love it here.
Green River Trail
As a Dockside resident, you’ll have direct access to the Green River Trail. Enjoy miles of trails for walking, running, or biking through many different environments along the banks and across bridges of Green River and Duwamish River. Rest for a moment along the path and look to the trees, birdwatchers have reported osprey nests and a number of other avian friends.
Meeker Street Fishing Hole
Reminisce on the good ol’ days with an afternoon at the Old Fishing Hole on Meeker Street. Before you bait up and reel in your dinner fresh from the water, note that fishing here is angled towards anglers 14 and younger. Dads, this is your time to shine and raise the next generation of fisher-folk! Over the age limit? You can still grab fresh produce from local farmers at the Green River Farm Stand.
Saltwater State Park
Pack a picnic and take a short drive to Saltwater State Park right on the bay. You can even see the distant mountains if it’s a clear day! This sandy getaway is ideal for strolling along the beach or swimming. Fun fact – there is an underwater artificial reef for diving but keep in mind that the reef is a protected marine sanctuary and harvesting is not allowed.
